The Ghana Beach Sports Association (GBSA) will organize the first ever beach sports event in the country from March 2-3, 2007.The two-day event which is dubbed “Ghana Independence Beach Classic” will come off at the Labadi Beach Resort.Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, an executive member of GBSA who revealed this during the official launching of the sport in Ghana said the event is aimed at introducing various games of beach sports to Ghanaians.According to him, eight teams will be participating in the event which has Beach Soccer has the showpiece including the likes of Beach Volley, Tug of War, Beach Wrestling and Throwball.The event will also form part of the sporting activities marking the Golden Jubilee Independence celebration of the country.Source: GNA
