Ghana Commercial Bank Limited will host an international banking forum scheduled for July 29 - 30, 2010 in Accra.The forum is sponsored by the Bank of China and Stanbic Bank.The forum which is the third of its kind is being organised by Bankers Association for Finance and Trade (BAFT) and International Financial Services Association (IFSA) in co-operation with the BAFT-IFSA Africa Council.The forum will deal with issues relating to the effective development of industry-wide business solutions in the African region and to strengthen collaboration and cooperation with other regional councils in Asia, Europe, the United States and Latin America.The forum will discuss topics such as sustaining value creation in the financial services industry through the application of appropriate risk modeling practices, liquidity crisis and drivers in trade finance that spark growth. Inter-regional trade flows, anti-money laundering and combating financial terrorism, challenges and opportunities of mobile payments, major initiatives for transaction banking, among others, will also be examined.Countries to be represented include Ghana, United States, Nigeria, Kenya, Mauritius and Uganda.Some of the speakers at the forum will be Ghana’s Minister of Finance, Dr Kwabena Duffuor; Millison K. Narh, Deputy Governor of Bank of Ghana; Mr Samuel Sarpong, Deputy Managing Director (Operations) of Ghana Commercial Bank Limited; Gboyega Songonuga, Principal Finance Officer, International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Donno K. Alexander, Chief Executive Officer, BAFT-IFSA.
