GCB is optimistic it would be able to raise some 500 million Ghana Cedis by the end of the third quarter of the year. This according to the Bank would enable it provide life-changing products to its customers and also inculcate in them the habit of saving.
To this end, the Bank has launched a promotion dubbed “The GCB Big Money Promo” with a Three Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis reward for the ultimate winner. Speaking with JOY BUSINESS at the launch Head of Consumer Banking Doris Wunu said inspite of the challenges with the economy, it is imperative for Ghanaians to still save.
According to her, the promotion is basically a deposit-mobilization drive for the Bank. “It is part of our awareness and visibility programme for GCB and the objective is to get our customers and new customers to deposit 500 Ghana Cedis and multiples thereof in their account and stand the chance to win prices and these prices are generators, Samsumg Galaxy X6, and some cash prices as well” she added.
The ultimate price for the six months promo would be a Three Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢300,000) cash price for the winner at a Grand Draw. There would be four mini draws and two main draws. Ms. Wunu indicated that “it is very difficult to save lately, and we want to help and motivate people to save – putting their monies down for six months, that that could go towards the end of the year and I believe even if you don’t win, that money will earn interest on it and at the same time it will be money set aside for you to do something.”
The promotion the Bank says is to inculcate the habit of savings into Ghanaians and also customers who want to open new accounts with it. The Bank is hoping to raise 500 million Ghana Cedis at the end of the six months. The promotion which is for customers of the Bank across the country – 157 branches starts on the 30th of April and ends on the 31st of October 2015.
Chief Operating Officer Samuel Sarpong stated that the bank has over the past 4 years doubled its revenues from GH¢200million to GH¢560 and has increased its operating profits from GH¢20million to GH¢320million and indicated that the Bank will strive to move closer to its customers than has been. He added that the bank has changed and is still changing. He added that “the GCB change has come with huge investments in IT infrastructure by introducing robust systems, 157 customer contact points, 15 agencies, 239 ATMS, among others.”
