The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has joined UNICEF Ghana and its partners to mark World Children’s Day at an evening event in Accra.
The celebration brought together young people, development partners, government officials and the media to honour children and reaffirm national commitments to their protection and development.
In her remarks, Dr Lartey stressed the importance of safeguarding children at every stage of their lives. She noted that the future of the country, even 60 years from now, will depend on the wellbeing and opportunities given to today’s children.

She called for sustained investment in safe and supportive environments that enable all children to grow, learn and thrive.
A delegation of adolescent girls who represented Ghana at the Adolescent Girls Summit in Dakar, Senegal, presented a regional declaration on girls’ rights to the Minister.

Dr Lartey commended their leadership and advocacy and pledged to work with key stakeholders to disseminate the document and integrate its priorities into national initiatives that support the rights and empowerment of girls.
The Minister encouraged continued collaboration among government, partners and communities to protect children’s rights and build an inclusive future for every child.
