Government has issued a stern warning it will not be dictated to by opposition elements.Information Minister, John Tia told Joy News’ Dzifa Bampoh; “we (government) will not allow them, (opposition) to dictate to us on how to run this country.”He was reacting to comments by the Minority in Parliament that the government was unduly taking credit for projects it did nothing to bring into being.Minority Chief Whip, Frederick Opare Ansah after a press conference on Wednesday told Joy FM’s Cyrus DeGraft Johnson that the government has been dishonest to the people of Ghana.According to him, President John Mills had created the impression that the National Democratic Congress government had secured a loan for the rehabilitation of the Tamale Hospital when in fact it inherited the loan from the NPP.He also opined that it was the NPP government that secured a $350 million Exim Bank loan for the Rural Electrification Project and expressed surprise that the Deputy Energy Minister Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah insisting the NDC government renegotiated the loan.Frederick Opare Ansah also questioned why the number of communities to benefit from the electricity project had reduced from 3,800 as planned by the NPP to 2,200 in spite of the fact that the government claimed to have saved $102 million after renegotiating the loan.But in a reaction the Information Minister, John Tia said the NPP has no moral right to call for honesty.He said until the party accept and apologise for leaving a deficit budget, they have no right to demand plaudits for loans it bequeathed to the NDC.“One good turn deserves another,” he said, emphasising that the NPP failed to give credit to the NDC when it won power in 2001.He said the NPP should wait till they come into power in 2050 so they can claim credit for their own achievements.Story by Nathan Gadugah/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
