President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, says his target is to the Black Stars win the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Black Stars have struggled in their bid to win the continental tournament in recent times under the administration of Okraku.
Ghana failed to make it out of the group stage in the 2021 and 2023 editions of the tournament, while they also failed to qualify for the 2025 tournament, which was played in Morocco, after a disappointing qualifying campaign.
Despite the setbacks, Okraku is committed to ensuring the senior national team wins the coveted prize one day.
"I want to win the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), and that is the fact. Only God knows the number of times we have tried, and we have not been able to win the AFCON title," he told Asaase Radio.
"We have not won with the Black Stars, but for the U-20, they won the AFCON, and Black Queens won bronze at the WAFCON, and they are back again to compete at the WAFCON next month."
Okraku also highlighted the recent performances of the national teams while also reaffirming his ambition to chalk up success at all levels.
"The Black Starlets, after a number of years, are back at the AFCON and the Black Princesses just qualified for the last round of the U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, and hopefully they will be at the World Cup. They have been there two times under my leadership," he continued.
"Basically, I want to win every tournament for Ghana, and I want to place Ghana on the medal podium on any given occasion."
Ghana's last AFCON success came in 1982, after which they have played in three finals in 1992, 2010 and 2015 but failed to win any.
