Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited (GGBL), Ghana’s only total beverage business on Wednesday 12 September 2012 won the Second Best Company in CSR for the year 2011 by the Ghana Investment Promotion Council (GIPC).
The award was presented at the prestigious annual Ghana Club 100 event held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel.
GGBL, the only Beverage Company listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange, in 2011 invested over GHC 1.2million in its Water of Life Programme to provide safe accessible drinking water to vulnerable communities in Ghana.
Since 2007, GGBL and Diageo have committed to supporting the delivering of a UN Millennium Development Goal to enable sustainable access to safe drinking water to 1 million people across Africa annually.
Working with implementing partners in Ghana, GGBL has deployed a flexible portfolio that has provided access to safe drinking water to more than 100, 000 people through a network of boreholes that serve small rural communities, extended water delivery systems to previously guinea worm prone areas, large scale WaterHealth centers for peri urban communities and point of use filers for individuals, households, schools and health centers across the 10 regions of Ghana.

"We have our Water of Life footprints across all 10 regions of Ghana, these include 4 projects in Upper East, 10 projects in Upper West, 4 projects in Northern, 12 projects in Brong Ahafo, 7 projects in Ashanti, 6 projects in Eastern, 7 projects in Greater Accra, 4 projects in Central while projects in the Western region are currently under review”, said Nana Yaa Ofori-Atta, Corporate Relations Director of Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited.
