Charles Kwablan Akonnor began his tenure as the Black Stars coach with a humbling defeat to Mali in a friendly game in Turkey on Friday.
Here is how the players were rated:
Lawrence Ati-Zigi- 2
He could have done a better job with the second goal he conceded. He can not be blamed for the others as his defense failed to offer cover for him.
Gideon Mensah-1
A terrible performance from the left-back. His zone was used a lot by Mali and he failed to find an answer there. He was taken off for Caleb Ekuban as CK Akonnor searched for goals.
Kassim Nuhu- 2
He and his partner, Nicholas Opoku, looked to be out of sync throughout the game. Albeit making some good tackles, he was ultimately unimpressive.
Nicholas Opoku- 2
He finds himself in the same boat as Nuhu. He made a few good tackles but overall was not impressive. He came off due to an injury.

Tariqe Fosu-3.5
He was arguably the brightest spot in the team today. He showed great confidence despite playing making his debut tonight. He does, however, have to improve in the attacking phase.
Alexander Djiku-1.5
He looked lost in this one. The Strasbourg star made a number of errors with his passing and was equally unimpressive when he was moved to centre-back.
Bernard Mensah-2.5
The Besiktas midfielder looked comfortable on the ball and made some smart plays during his time on the pitch. However, he struggled to gel with Thomas Partey and it costed the Black Stars.
Thomas Partey-3
Despite having a poor game by his standards, he was trying to make things happen. The Arsenal man drove the ball forward a few times and had some attempts but failed to trouble the goalkeeper.
Eugene Ansah- 0.5
The least said about him, the better. He was a true definition of a ghost. He offered next to nothing in all areas of the pitch. CK Akonnor rightly took him off in the first half.
Andre Ayew-2
Andre tried to get himself involved in the game but lost the ball too many times to the Mali defenders. The captain cut a frustrated figure throughout this one.
Jordan Ayew-2.5
The Crystal Palace man was not offered the supply he needed and had to drop into midfield to affect the game. It was a night to forget for him.
Substitutes
Kamaldeen Sulemana-1
Kamaldeen replaced Eugene Ansah as Akonnor sought improvement on the left-wing. The 18-year-old showed some confidence on the ball but lost it severally. He also failed to offer help to Gideon Mensah for the second goal.
Emmanuel Lomotey- 1
He did nothing to change the course of the game when he replaced Bernard Mensah at the beginning of the second half. He earned an early yellow card for a bad challenge.
Joseph Aidoo-1
He also did nothing to change the defensive problems. He and his colleagues fell asleep for the third goal. It may be due to the change to a back three system but he was not good tonight nonetheless.
Caleb Ekuban- N/A
He had little time to do anything massive.
CK Akonnor- 1
After his appointment, he hinted that he will make the Black Stars play an attacking brand of football. Tonight was certainly not it. His team looked disorganized in all areas. He has huge work to do ahead of the next game.
