It was a 5-star performance by Ghana as the Black Stars redeemed themselves by battering Qatar 5-1.
A brace from captain Andre Ayew and goals from Samuel Owusu, Tariqe Fosu and Samuel Owusu ensured that CK Akonnor recorded his first victory as Ghana coach.
Here is how we rated the players:

Razak Abalora - 4/10
Was caught up in a defensive mishap when he failed to communicate with Joseph Aidoo in the only goal conceded by the Black Stars. He was also caught ball watching for a couple of chances conceded in the game.
Benson Anang – 6.5/10
Played it safe on his debut as he managed to keep the left wing of Qatar fairly quiet. Also showed signs of what he can do going forward with a couple of marauding runs.
Joseph Aidoo – 3/10
Lost sight of his men too many times and caused the team to concede two big chances, one of which was converted by Almoez Ali.
Alexander Djiku – 4/10
Gave away a number of passes and failed to communicate well with his partner Aidoo. He also left his man in the latter stage of the game as it resulted in a big chance that wasn’t converted.
Gideon Mensah – 6/10
A lot of more confident against Qatar and looked very good going forward especially providing a pre-assist for Ghana’s fourth goal.
Baba Iddrisu – 5/10
Misplaced a couple of passes and was caught on the ball a few times but managed to keep it simple for the most part of the game.
Thomas Partey – 8
A monstrous performance from the Arsenal midfielder bossing the game from beginning to end. He moved the ball quickly at every chance providing two assists on the day as well.
Samuel Owusu – 8
He was everywhere and looked very confident whenever he had the ball. He scored a goal and provided an assist in what was a near-perfect game for the 24-year-old.
Tariqe Fosu – 7
Arguably Ghana’s best player in the first half as he scored his first Ghana goal to give the Black Stars the lead. He was thorn in the defence of Qatar when he was on especially with his dazzling runs.
Andre Ayew – 7.5
Scored two well taken goals to cap off a good performance. Kept it neat and tidy in the middle of the park but probably could have scored a hat-trick if he was more clinical.
Jordan Ayew – 7
Lacked supply for most part of the game but he compromised well dropping deep to engage with play. Although, he failed to score, he assisted Andre Ayew’s second goal and worked hard all game also forcing the issue for Fosu's goal.
Substitutes
Kamaldeen Sulemana – 3/10
Came on early in the second half but had very little impact as he barely had a feel of the ball.
Mohammed Yakubu – 2/10
Replaced Aidoo in the second half and was caught out of position a couple of times. He ended up picking up a yellow card after a hefty challenge.
Caleb Ekuban – 5.5/10
Made the most out of the little minutes he had by scoring the fifth and final goal of the game.
Coach
CK Akonnor – 8
Learned his lessons from the Mali game and ensured the team was more compact defensively. He also made room for quicker transitions in attack making the team more fluent and expressive upfront.
