Champions of the maiden Ghana Beach Soccer League, Sunset Sports Keta, have presented the championship trophy to tournament sponsor, CAL Bank.
The Keta-based side were officially crowned the 2011/2012 Ghana beach soccer champions at a historic event on the last day of the beach soccer league at the La Pleasure Beach Soccer Arena in Accra on May 12.
The Ghana Beach Soccer Association (GBSA) and Cal Bank last year agreed a landmark two-year sponsorship deal worth GHS40,000 per annum.
The trophy presentation was held at CAL Bank headquarters in Accra on Friday.
Receiving the delegation was Mr Frank Adu (Jr), Managing Director of CAL Bank. "I think soccer itself is for the masses and we have a whole coast not being used and immediately we were approached we got interested to help the masses. We will continue doing it since it has now become an Olympic Sport and I think the sport ministry must pay critical attention to the sport," he told JOY Sports.
The Chief Executive Officer of the club, Mr. Dzidodo Ruben Adjahoe promised his charges will defend the trophy.
