Ghana proved too strong as they overcame world cup-bound Japan 2-0 in an international friendly played on Wednesday in Yokohama.
The Black Stars were second best in terms of possession and chances created but won the game thanks to goals by Thomas Partey and Emmanuel Boateng.
Partey opened the scoring in the 9th minute. The Atletico Madrid ace hit a low freekick which Japanese goalkeeper Eiji Kwashima failed to handle.
Levante striker Emmanuel Boateng doubled the lead after recess from the penalty spot. The 22-year-old stepped up to convert after he was hacked down in the box.
Japan were wasteful and have themselves to blame for not being able to score at least a goal.
They were using the match to step up their preparations for the upcoming world cup in Russia.
Bayern Munich youngster Akwasi Okyere made his international bow for Ghana in the 82nd, replacing Boateng.
The Black Stars will next face Iceland in another friendly on June 7.
Starting line-up below:
Ofori, Yiadom, Lumor, Sumaila, Opoku, Attamah, Sackey, Acheampong, Boateng, Partey, Ampomah
Reserves: Ati-Zigi, Kassim, Kwasi Okyere, Dwamena, Gyasi, Adomah, Acquah
