Ghana’s Ambassador to China, Kojo Bonsu, has reaffirmed the country’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with China.
This was after meeting Wang Yong, Director General of the International Cooperation Department of China’s Ministry of Public Security, in Beijing.
Ambassador Bonsu conveyed Ghana’s appreciation for China’s long-standing support for the country’s socio-economic development and highlighted the government’s commitment to expanding cooperation in new areas of shared interest.
The talks focused heavily on boosting collaboration in security and public safety. Both sides discussed enhancing institutional capacity, expanding training and technical exchange programmes, and improving the sharing of best practices and intelligence to combat transnational crimes and emerging security threats.
They also underscored the importance of ongoing dialogue, mutual understanding, and respect for sovereignty in advancing joint priorities such as peacekeeping, counterterrorism, and citizen protection.
The engagement was described as a reaffirmation of the two countries’ shared vision for a safer and more prosperous future, and a practical step toward strengthening Ghana-China cooperation in security and development.
Key areas of cooperation include:
• Enhancing capacity-building within Ghana’s security and law enforcement agencies
• Expanding training and technical exchanges in policing, cybersecurity, and crime prevention
• Improving best-practice sharing and intelligence collaboration to counter cross-border crimes
Both sides ended the meeting with renewed goodwill and a shared determination to translate the discussions into concrete programmes and joint initiatives in the months ahead, further deepening a partnership built on mutual respect, solidarity, and shared prosperity.
