The outgoing Chinese Ambassador Mr. Zhang Keyuan has paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Water Resource, Works and Housing to bid him farewell.
Mr. Keyuan who had been on duty call since 2003 leaves Ghana for another duty post.
He said his country would continue to strengthen the bilateral relations that had existed between the two countries over the four years of duty, especially in water supply and other related areas.
Mr. Hackman Owusu-Agyeman, sector Minister who extended a hand of felicitation, noted the numerous assistance the Chinese government had over the years offered Ghana in terms of sports, science, ICT, cultural development among others.
He said the trade relations that had existed between the two countries had improved the economy of Ghana adding, “We still call for transparent trade relations, consumer protection as well as adding value to what is produced locally”.
He said: “When we were struggling for political independence, China was with us and must help us in our struggle for economic independence”.
Mr Owusu-Agyeman noted that the interventions by the Chinese government had also changed the development pattern in a positive direction and hoped that the good foundation laid would be continued by his predecessor.
