Ghana is committed to improving aviation infrastructure and policies to support the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (ACFTA), Aviation Minister has said.
Speaking at the ongoing International Civil aviation Organization (ICAO) 40th Assembly, Kofi Adda said supporting Ghana’s aviation industry will boost trade especially since the country hosts the Secretariat of the AFCTA.
He said "as Ghana is hosting the headquarters of the African Continental Free Trade Area, I wish to assure you that Ghana remains committed to ensuring that air transport is used to enhance free trade and continental integration of one of the biggest markets of the world. Air cargo will, therefore, see a rise in activity in the coming years.”
Air cargo movement is expected to see an increase with the implementation of the African continental free trade area.
The African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement which seeks to promote intra Africa trade is the largest free trade area in the world since the creation of the World Trade Organization in 1995.
AfCFTA will cover more than 1.2 billion people and over $3 trillion in GDP.
