FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi visited midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong in Accra on Thursday to check on his recovery after undergoing surgery following a ligament injury. The on-loan Wolves midfielder is in Accra to continue with his recovery process as he has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury. This prompted the GFA, led by its President, Kwesi Nyantakyi to meet with the Arsenal player to assure him of the country's support as he recovers from the anterior cruciate ligament injury. "We have come here to meet you to see how you are coping after the surgery following your injury," Nyantakyi told Frimpong at the meeting in Accra. "The whole of Ghana is praying for your quick recovery because you are a son of the land. "For your commitment to Ghana, people here want to see you in action as soon as possible and this is the message I want to convey to you. Welcome home." The ex-England youth international applied to the world governing body FIFA six months ago to switch national allegiance to enable him play for Ghana. But FIFA has asked the Ghana FA to provide more documents including letters from the Scottish, Northern Ireland and Wales FAs as Frimpong holds a British passport. Nyantakyi assured the midfielder that the GFA is working hard to ensure that his nationality switch is approved. "When we sent your initial application to FIFA including the letter from the English FA, FIFA asked us to produce more documents from all the FAs in the United Kingdom," Nyantakyi said. "We have sent those requests to the FAs involved. We have received the document from one of the federations and we are chasing the rest. "We want to assure you that we will do all we can to make sure that your nationality switch is approved by FIFA in due course." Born in Ghana's capital Accra in 1992, Frimpong arrived in London as a youngster before joining Arsenal's youth academy aged nine. The young star played for England's youth teams but has yet to represent the Three Lions at the senior level. This means he is still eligible to play for Ghana - the country of his parents and the country of his birth.
