The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed Mr. Ibrahim Sannie Daara as the director of communications of the country's governing body.
The award-winning ex-BBC journalist will head the newly-created communications divsion within the GFA to reflect the growing media needs of the organisation.
The newly-created post will see Sannie work as a deputy secretary general of the GFA.
Among his duties in his new job is making information on the GFA's activities readily available to the media and public, instantly responding to the media and handling publicity.
Crucially, Mr. Sannie and his team will give a new focus to the GFA's official newspaper, the GFA's website and explore new media opportunities to effectively connect and communicate with the media and public.
Mr Sannie will also speak on behalf of the GFA and create avenues for officials and players to effectively communicate with the public.
GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi said Mr. Sannie was headhunted for his ability after working in the local and international media for 17 years.
Nyantakyi said that Mr Sannie joins the GFA with a wealth of experience and knowledge in communications and the football industry and will bring considerable energy and focus to the post.
"Ibrahim Sannie's decision to accept the offer to work for the GFA shows we are on track by attracting the best talent to ensure that Ghana football continues on the right path," Nyantakyi said.
"His achievements, knowledge and expertise show that he will succeed in this post and achieve the targets we have set for him.
"When I was elected I made a promise that I will bring on board the best talent to drive Ghana football forward. The fact that we are attracting the quality of Mr Sannie shows we are on the right track.
"With his experience at the highest level of football journalism and contacts we have the trust that he will lead our ambition to reach the communication standards of Fifa and Caf."
The decision to create the post of director of communications came about as a result of the changes within the media landscape in the country with the 24-hour news culture.
Mr. Sannie is one of Ghana's famous football journalists having worked for the BBC for eight years and has a huge experience on the local media scene.
He has won several awards in the journalism profession including the FPA Award in the UK which is the crowning achievement of any journalist's career.
Mr Sannie holds a masters degree in International Journalism from Cardiff University in the United Kingdom and speaks Twi, Ga and Hausa.
