A one month film festival to commemorate Ghana’s Golden Jubilee celebrations will be held in Accra during the anniversary month from March 4, 2007 till the end of the month.The festival to be organised by Access Media is expected to be the biggest film event which took place in Ghana.Phase one of the festival takes place at Busy Internet from March 4 to 8. It will be the screening of some of the best films in all the categories including documentaries, features, TV drama series and school productions.Awards will be given to the best production houses, which made these films and the best actors, actresses, producers, directors, DOPs, costumers, make up, sound and effects.Among the documentaries is the History of Film Making in Ghana. The features include Royal Battle, Raise the Flag and Alicia. The TV drama series include Broadway, I stand Accused, L & G. Among the sit coms are Adults in Education, Efiewura, and District Colonial Court.Apart from the phase one which will take place at Busy Internet near Kwame Nkrumah Circle, the rest of the programmes will take place at Afrikiko Gardens at Kanda near TV3 offices and studios.Seminars, workshops and stalls for sales by production houses will be mounted during the period.The general public will be allowed to participate in the selection of the award winners.Interested participants should reach the organisers at Ghanafifest@yahoo.com.Miss Mabel Germain, CEO of Access Media, the organisers, has this to say."We will like many film lovers and the general public to participate in the festival in order to view all the important past productions they have missed. They could also buy at the festival grounds.The seminars, workshops, especially will enable enthusiasts to enter film making to get an overview or to peek through windows of the industry before they enter.The film industry has almost collapsed or given way to Nigerian films for many reasons, some superstitious.The seminars will give both marketers and markets an opportunity to exchange notes.Spectator
