Founder and leader of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom has warned Ghana is on the brink of total collapse if urgent measures are not put in place to salvage it.
Dr. Nduom made these remarks on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday.
The PPP founder said development in all sectors of the economy under the Mills-led administration is stagnant hence Ghanaians must vote PPP for a massive re-awakening of the country.
The presidential hopeful also questioned the true essence of the Better Ghana Agenda touted by the ruling government, adding that it is not reflecting in the lives of Ghanaians.
Dr. Nduom’s comment comes on the back of what he says were his observations during a six-day nationwide tour by PPP to strengthen its support base at the grassroots level.
The tour was also to elect regional and constituency executives to run the affairs of the party in the regions and the constituencies in an interim capacity.
Dr. Nduom bemoaned the soaring unemployment situation in the country.
He claimed that the unemployment situation in the country has not only led to the creation of an Unemployed Graduate Association but also Association of Mothers of Unemployed Graduates who are seeking the welfare of their unemployed children.
Dr. Nduom said the living conditions of Ghanaians have deteriorated under the Mills-led government which says it had chalked unprecedented achievements in the management of the economy in its first term of office.
He asked whether the deplorable nature of roads, joblessness, the lack of potable water and other social amenities in most parts of the country are all part of the Better Ghana Agenda.
The entrepreneur stressed the need for Ghanaians to elect someone with the track record and has the wherewithal to create jobs to enable them live meaningful and decent lives.
He noted that a PPP government will also improve the living standards of Ghanaians, which includes providing potable water, jobs, free and compulsory education from kindergarten to Senior High School (SHS and improved health care.
Dr. Nduom urged the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to stop touting vague achievements and hit the ground running to save Ghanaians from the hardships it has plunged them into.
