UK-based football analyst Kwadwo Adjei Gyimah has urged the Ghanaian government to prioritize the development of grass seeds to tackle the country's pitch issues.
Ghana has been in the spotlight recently for negative reasons, following CAF's decision to ban the Baba Yara Stadium which is the only approved venue for international standard.
CAF cited the stadium's "unsuitable playing field" among other issues, resulting in the facility's license being withdrawn.
"It is very important that if we were a country that needs to be taken seriously about football, we have to also focus on the infrastructure and one of the key things we have to focus on will have to be the pitches,” Gyimah said in an interview with JoySports.
"There are different seeds of different grasses that do well in every horizon and then we have to pay more attention in developing these seeds and making sure that we have such a very standard pitch for all of us to play football on.
"Believe you me, there are alot of things you cannot do on these pitches here [UK]. In Ghana, we're having concerts, all set of programs on these pitches. We are not protecting these pitches, our drainage system is very bad."
The stadium crisis could force the Black Stars to play their next home match in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers abroad, with Togo, Nigeria, or Ivory Coast among the likely alternatives.
Ghana will face Sudan on October 10, looking to bounce back after a disappointing start to their qualifiers, having picked up just one point from a possible six following a defeat to Angola and a draw with Niger in Group F.
