The Ghana Premier League (GPL) is set to return on Friday, March 7, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed.
The Ghana FA announced on Wednesday, February 26, after three weeks of no action following the recent hooliganism attacks.
The league's return, according to the FA, is "subject to the safety and security assurance inspection of all venues currently being undertaken by the GFA and the Ministry for Sports and Recreation."
The Ghana FA in recent days have been training stakeholders on the Enhanced Matchday Safety and Security Protocols 2025 as part of measures to avoid further hooligan incidents at various stadiums.
The league had been put on hold due to Asante Kotoko requesting for improved measures from the FA following the death of fan, Francis Nana Pooley Frimpong during their league game in Nsoatre.
The Porcupine Warriors earlier this week announced their readiness to return to competitive football after the death of Pooley which is scheduled for March 6.
As part of the league's resumption, the FA has also announced the fixtures for Matchday 20 have been fixed for Tuesday, March 18 to Thursday, March 20, Matchday 21 will take place across approved venues on Tuesday, April 1 to Thursday, April 3 with Matchday 22 fixtures slated for Tuesday, April 15 to Thursday, April 17, 2025.
Kotoko's postponed MTN FA Cup tie against Sekondi Eleven Wise will take place on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
