The Ghana–Russia Center for Commerce and Relations (The Center) has secured approval to co-host the inaugural “Russia–Ghana Dialogue” session at the XVII International Economic Forum, Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum 2026, scheduled to take place in May.
The milestone session, the first of its kind in the history of the forum, will be co-hosted by the Ghana–Russia Center, marking a significant step in deepening bilateral engagement between Ghana and the Russian Federation.
High-level Ghanaian dignitaries, including Ghana’s Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary to the Russian Federation, His Excellency Dr Koma Steem Jehu-Appiah, are expected to participate in the forum.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana–Russia Center for Commerce and Relations, Mr John Aggrey, disclosed the development in an exclusive interview with Myjoyonline, describing the approval as a landmark achievement for Ghana–Russia relations.

According to the Head of Business Development and Innovations at the Center, Madam Ziona Ayorkor Holm, the breakthrough reflects sustained efforts to elevate Ghana–Russia cooperation.
She noted that business tours and stakeholder engagements in the Republic of Tatarstan played a critical role in securing the opportunity to host the dialogue session, 16 years after the forum’s inception.
KazanForum seeks to strengthen trade, economic, scientific, technical, social and cultural cooperation between Russia and member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as well as other friendly nations.
The forum is organised with the support of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, with the Roscongress Foundation serving as the operator of the event.
