The Ghana Football Association has snubbed a proposed friendly against Nigeria, opting to play Egypt instead.
The Super Eagles were keen on playing the Black Stars in Lagos on 11 February next year but Egypt have also put in a bid to host Ghana on the same day. The Black Stars have played Nigeria in two times over the past few years while coach Milovan Rajevac is keen on testing his squad against African champions Egypt.
Nigeria woke up and smelled the coffee so they have decided to look elsewhere for the friendly on the day for international friendlies.
"We have not made any progress with the Ghana Football Association as regards the proposed friendly on February 11," said spokesman for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ademola Olajire.
"As such we are now talking to other countries like Zambia, Togo and Benin to see who will be available on the same day; our target is to play against one of the teams who have qualified for the final round of the qualifiers."
Ghana has not played Egypt in over ten years and a game against the Pharaohs give the Black Stars the necessary test ahead of the start of the second phase of the World Cup qualifiers in March.
