Ghana Water Company’s task force has busted three individuals in Chorkor for engaging in illegal connection of water in the neighborhood.
The utility company has for a long time complained about losing over 25% of potable water they produce to illegal connections.
The operation by the taskforce according to the company is crucial and will save the company lots of revenue.
The Ghana Water Company has embarked on a 100-day program which is intended to clean the system of fraudulent connections and save the company millions of Cedis.
The task force embarked on one such operation on Friday and in the process busted two persons, identified only as Larbi and Addey, in Chorkor a sprawling suburb of Accra.
The two are currently behind bars at the Chorkor Police station.
Addey however has revealed there are officials in Ghana Water Company who are also engaged in the act.
Illegal connection is widespread in Chorkor and so the operation by the taskforce according to the water company is crucial and will save the company lots of revenue.
A distribution staff officer of Ghana Water Company Felix Amasah discovered the activities of the unscrupulous individuals in Chorkor.
He has said the operations of the taskforce will continue.
