Ghana got her name on the medals table at the 9th All Africa games in Algiers on Saturday when Ajara Mohammed beat a strong field of eight finalists to claim a gold medal in the 1,500 T 54 competition.
Ajara was so dominant that she caught up with three of the contestants and indeed overlapped them before reaching the finishing line.
She was followed much later in second position for the silver medal by compatriot, Anita Forjour. In the male category, Nkegbe Botsoyo won a silver medal in the 100m T 54 and a bronze in the 400m T 54 category, while Obeng led from start in the T 54 1,500 event only to surrender to an Algerian and a South African in the end.
Obeng however made sure of the bronze medal to send Ghana's medal haul to five; one gold, two silver and two bronze all from the disabled sports events.
