As part of efforts to distribute quality cables the Ghanaian market, electrical engineering company, Process and Plant Automation has partnered the Lapp Group, German-based company that designs, manufactures and supplies industrial cables and accessories.
The move is to enable the company adhere to the Ghana Standard Authority regulations of importing only quality cables into the country.
Speaking at the launch of Lapp Group Cable in Accra, Chief Executive Officer of Automation Ghana, Kweku Asmah said the partnership is to strengthen their brand of supplying only high standard cables.
“We are going to bring onto the Ghanaian market very good, quality electrical cables and equipment that meet international standards”.
Mr. Asmah who has been in business since 2003 noted that, the partnership with Lapp will not only improve their sales but increase their supply chain.
He commended the Ghana Standard Authority’s resolve to ensure the market is not flooded with inferior cables.
“We are very excited Ghana Standard Authority has step up its surveillance. This would encourage Ghanaians to patronize products from reputable companies like Process and Plant" he started.
Also, the Managing Director of Lapp Group Cable, Mr Jose Carvalho, said the company was currently supplying cables to more than 150 countries.
He said the company, founded in 1957, had been producing the right standard of cables that conformed to international standards.
In Ghana, Mr Carvalho said, the company’s products would be distributed solely by Automation Ghana, a technology firm in Accra.
For his part, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Telecommunications Chamber, Mr Kenneth Ashigbey, expressed concern about the high rate of cable theft in the industry.
He said averagely, 200 cables were cut in a month, with each costing GH¢17,000.
Mr Ashigbey applauded the entry of Lapp Group Cable and its partnership with Automation Ghana, adding that the two companies could play a major role in ensuring the production of quality cable products in the country.
