Ghanaian movie stars have beaten their Nigerian counterparts in a novelty match that was played at the Kumasi Sports Stadium Thursday.
The match, organized by the Actors Guild of Ghana, was to celebrate the country's 57th Independence Day and foster unity between the two movie industries.
A classy Ghanaian side, which featured well known faces including Van Vicker and Prince David Osei, beat the Nigerian side 3-1 after 90 minutes of action.
Ghana's first goal came just 20 minutes into the game. It was followed by two successive goals in the second half of a fun-packed match.
Chigozie Atuanya and Hanks Anuku's goalkeeping antics could not save the Nigerian team.
The Actors Guild of Nigeria's consolation goal was scored by Sopiriye Fiberesima..
Ghana's star player, Van Vicker and Nigeria's Fred Amata couldn't complete the game after picking up injuries.
The second leg of the match will be played in Nigeria on a yet-to-be announced date and venue. The novelty match is expected to be an annual event.
