The Country Director of Global Media Foundation (GLOMEF), Clement Boateng, has urged Ghanaians to use the experiences of other African countries where election-related conflicts have erupted and destroyed the gains made as a guide ahead of this year's election.
He said Ghanaians must not allow their political affiliations to divide the country and create tension.
He indicated, "Politics is for the welfare and the socio-economic advancement of the people".

“We must allow our political persuasions to guide us to make the right choices in the forthcoming general election that would result in an improvement in the living conditions of the ordinary Ghanaian, which will propel the forward march of the people,"he emphasised.
Mr Boateng spoke with JoyNews on the sidelines of a consultative meeting to strategise towards GLOMEF’s advocacy programme for a free, fair and violence-free general election scheduled for December this year.
He noted that GLOMEF is not only interested in a violence-free election this year but also in ensuring that acts of violence get eliminated in politics, football, religious, and ethnic matters.
He stated that no society could achieve progress where there is violence, chaos and confusion.

The Country Director of GLOMEF, therefore, urged Ghanaians to choose dialogue over violence to resolve their problems since violence can threaten the peace and stability of the country.
He also appealed to all factions engaged in land and chieftaincy disputes to resort to alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) to promote peace and development.
He explained that ADR is currently the proven option for all kinds of dispute resolution, urging everyone seeking a solution to any impasse to always opt for ADR”.
Mr Boateng implored Christians, Muslims, traditionalists and all other religious bodies to peacefully co-exist and pray for peaceful polls in December this year.
He further called on political parties and their supporters to be circumspect in their utterances during their campaigns to prevent violent eruptions.

He entreated all well-meaning Ghanaians to get involved in the campaign for a peaceful and violence-free 2024 general elections.
"One thing we as Ghanaians must take cognisance of is that there has not been any winner in violent confrontations the world over, so the campaign for an election without violence is a shared responsibility," Mr Boateng stressed.
