Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Anin Yeboah says delivering justice and enforcing laws in the country will not be compromised even in the face of Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking at the 2020 and 12th Annual Chief Justice Forum held in Sunyani on Friday, November 13, the Chief Justice stated that the judicial system will not be complacent in executing its responsibilities.
"The Authority does not come with breaks. We do not get to throw our hands and give up when faced with unimaginable situations.
"While we may be faced with a very difficult situation like Covid-19 pandemic, our responsibility to interpret, apply and enforce the laws of this country still exists," he said.
However, His Lordship Justice Anin Yeboah said the implementation of mechanisms that will result in easy, effective and efficient access to justice needs to be looked at.
"It is an inescapable fact that Covid-19 has come to further intensify the need to embrace change because it is fully positive that the world will not be the same again. The Ghana Judicial service must keep up with the changes," he stated.
According to him, "hardly has any worthwhile efforts been made until the introduction of the E-Justice system in judicial administration in our country."
He said the E-Justice platform has been activated in the law court complex in Accra and will soon be implemented in other courts nationwide.
Also speaking at the event, President of the Ghana Bar Association, Anthony Forson Jnr admonished all persons in the justice delivery system in the country to execute their duties with honesty and diligence.
"We fervently hope and pray that the judicial service will be equipped with the necessary resources and replicate the E-Justice and the virtual court to ensure that speedy and effective justice will be enjoyed by all persons," he said.
This year's event was dubbed: Justice for all under Constitutional rule; Making justice delivery accessible in a pandemic.
