The British Council has launched the Ghana/United Kingdom (UK) Alumni Association, a network of people in Ghana who have studied in the UK as well as professionals with UK qualifications. The Ghana/UK Association will be operated in line with the Ghana-UK Alumni and Professional Network operating principles. It will involve the British Council, which will be a partner and supporter with primary responsibilities for engagement to UK Alumni. Speaking at the launch, the British High. Commissioner to Accra, Dr Nicholas Westcott, said he was honoured for witnessing the launch of one of the fastest growing clubs in Ghana. During a meeting with the vice chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr Westcott said they were considering setting up exchange programmes which would allow students from the UK to benefit from the equally good education Ghana had. The President of the Ghana/UK Alumni Association, Mr Frank Aidoo, reiterated the importance of bringing Ghanaians with various skills and abilities into line with those in the UK which could help the nation develop better. He said the association would serve as a platform for valued networking and effective mentoring and promote a continued partnership between Ghana and the UK. The Technical Manager in charge of Research and Development of Unilever Ghana Limited, Nana Damoah, who is a Chevening Scholar from Nottingham University, said his UK educational experience afforded him excellent opportunities which had now connected him to a well-known brand.
