The Greater Accra Regional Directorate of the Ghana Health Service has started investigations into what led to the supposed shortage of measles and yellow vaccines at the Mamprobi Polyclinic in Accra.
The Regional Directorate maintained that it suspects someone did not do his or her job well culminating in the turning away of mothers whenever the come to the hospital.
Asempa News on Wednesday reported that parents who had taken their children to the Mamprobi Polyclinic to be vaccinated against measles and yellow fever where asked to go home because the hospital had ran of supply of the vaccines.
But the Regional Director Dr. Irene Agyapong told Asempa News, her checks indicate that vaccines are available for both diseases and therefore expressed surprise as to why authorities of the facility asked the mothers to go home with the claim that the vaccines had ran out.
She said the investigators have been charged to specifically find out if the shortage was artificial or otherwise as well as find the reason behind the development since the GHS has enough vaccines in its warehouse.
