Asempa fm, the headquarters of Ghana sports, in our quest to promote the Glo premier league has instituted an ‘award scheme’.
This award scheme will bring to public notice, players and officials who underperformed in the course of the season in order to enable these players and officials wake up from their slumber.
Some of these players in the years gone by were sensational to watch; others too were purchased at a very high cost due to their performances.
This awards scheme is not odd in the world of sports, because when you go to Italy they have a similar awards for players who underperformed in the course of a season.
This award is known as Bidone d'Oro, Italian for ‘Golden Bin’ or ‘Golden Trashcan’, is an award given to a player voted the worst in Serie A each year.
Former winners are: Rivaldo (AC Milan), Nicola Legrottaglie (Juventus), Christian Vieri (Inter Milan), Adriano (Inter Milan), Adriano (Inter Milan), Ricardo Quaresma (Inter Milan), Felipe Melo (Juventus), Adriano (Roma), Diego Milito (Inter Milan).
Look at this scenario, after Diego Milito had won the ‘Golden Bin’, being the worst in the serie A in the year 2011, he did a comeback by coming 2nd on the top scorers chart this season.
Asempa FM through our various reporters who travelled the length and breadth of this country to cover the Glo premier league in the 2011-2012, a technical committee set up on this awards and our cherished listeners, we have shortlisted the following personalities for the various awards.
We therefore entreat you to be part of the final selection process by testing the player or the official you think should win an award to our short code 1769. The maiden edition of the awards is being sponsored by ‘Gidi Power’
