Girls as young as 11 are wanting vagina surgery because they are anxious about its appearance, with porn among the driving factors.
Increasing numbers of young girls have told their GPs they want labiaplasties - a surgical procedure where the lips of the vagina are shortened or reshaped.
According to the BBC, more than 200 girls under 18 had a labiaplasty on the NHS with over 150 of whom under the age of 15.
The NHS states the operation should not be performed on girls younger than 18.
Adolescent gynaecologist Dr Naomi Crouch said young girls were motivated to seek the surgery over fears about their appearance.
She told the BBC: "Girls will sometimes come out with comments like, 'I just hate it, I just want it removed,' and for a girl to feel that way about any part of her body - especially a part that's intimate - is very upsetting."
A GP with over 30 years experience said she saw girls as young as 11 in her surgery "expressing almost disgust" with their vagina, the BBC reported.
She said the youngsters were being influenced by unrealistic images exposed to them through social media and pornography.
