The second half of the Glo Premiere league resumes on Sunday and the major highlights will be the how Hearts of Oak, Kotoko and the likes of B.A Stars who have signed new players in a bid to improve their standings will fare. Top of the signings is the return of former Black Stars defender Sheila Illiasu. Illiasu, the man credited for virtually ending Sammy Osei Kuffour’s Black Stars career has been inactive the last four years but hopes to revive his career with Real Tamale United. Another surprise returnee to the league is former MVP player, Kweku Essien. Kotoko has signed over ten new players after offloading a dozen while Hearts of Oak turn their attention to Mahatma Otto to help them win a league crown to celebrate their centenary this year. In an attempt to rescue what has been a difficult first half in their league title quest, Dansoman-based Premier league side Liberty Professionals have appointed veteran Coach J.E Sarpong to take charge of the team for the second half of the league which starts on Sunday. The veteran Coach takes over from George Lamptey who has struggled to impress at Liberty. The scientific soccer lads now occupy 13th position on the 16 team league table and must improve to avoid relegation. Liberty is well known for their prompt payment of salaries and bonuses but that has not helped the course of the team this term. Club CEO Alhaji Sly Tetteh tells Joy Sports J.E Sarpong is Liberty’s best bet to make a meaningful challenge to the league title. Still on the league and officials of bottom Club B.A Stars are heavily dependent on their new recruits to help the new entrants stay in the top flight league. The Suyani-based team has landed players like former Hearts of Oak player Kweku Essien. In a swap deal, BA Stars have also acquired the services of three Kessben FC players Prince Attakora Gyimah, Bella Tigana and Solomon Lamptey in return for in-form Larbi Koomson. Veteran striker Micheal Osei, Abubakari Suala and Mawuli Soglo are all new signings expected to restore the league campaign of the team. The team has also requested to play its league games at the Dormaa Park as part of the rescue mission.
