The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has vowed to reject the Single Spine Pay Policy, should there be any changes against what they have already negotiated with the Fair Wages and Salary Commission.Dr. Emmanuel Adom Winful, President of the association disclosed this in a press statement signed by him and issued on Monday, at the end of the association’s third National Executives Council Meeting in Sunyani. The statement called on the Fair Wages and Salary Commission to strictly stick to the job re-evaluation results in the health sector to bring equity and fairness.“The GMA will not be in a position to accept any unreasonable charges in the level to the detriment of our members”, the statement added.According to the statement, the GMA have still been on discussion table with the salary commission in preparation to move them unto the Single Spine Salary Structure and that they expect no changes in what have been discussed and accepted by the two parties.Dr. Emmanuel Adom Winful in the statement urged the commission to as a matter of urgency sit with the GMA to discuss salary review of doctors immediately because salaries of the health sector have not seen any review since the year 2009.“The immediate review has also become important because there is no clear time line as to when the health sector is coming on board the SSSS”, the statement said.Source: The Chronicle
