Right to Dream Academy’s U-18 team beat Everton 5:3 in an explosive clash in Merseyside as the Ghanaian Academy continued their tour of the UK on Tuesday, 30th July, 2013.
RtD stormed into a 2:1 lead in the first half but five goals were scored between the two sides in the second half as the game came to life.
Gareth Henderby’s team went into the game with a lot of determination having missed out on a final place at the Gothia Cup after losing 1:0 to Swedish side IF Brommapojkarna, who eventually lost to Everton, about two weeks ago.
Divine Naah continued his fine form and put RtD in the lead but the home side drew level before Benjamin Tetteh restored his side’s lead after good work by Aremeyaw Muntari.
But just when they thought it was all too easy, Everton hit back after the break to draw level. But Aremeyaw hit back instantly to put RtD 3:2 up.
Divine Naah, who is in a form of his life after netting five times in the recent Gothia Cup and also scoring a brace in the 6:0 rout over Preston North End, rounded up the game.
Naah scored a wonderful goal and later converted from the spot.
Everton suggested a comeback was on when they scored to make it 5-3 late into the game, but that would prove to be the final score.
The U-18’s arrived in Manchester last week to start the UK leg of their tour of Europe following their participation in the Gothia Cup, where they reached the semi finals.
