Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL) has provided two boreholes equipped with mechanized pumps for two communities in the East Akim District of the Eastern Region.
The mechanized boreholes will serve Amanfrom and Panokrom, two rural communities near Kyebi.
Over 6,000 inhabitants from the two communities and five adjoining villages are benefitting from the water projects.
Since 2012, GOIL has funded over 20 borehole projects as part of its corporate social responsibility programs.
At the commission of the two projects which was attended by elated residents, the Corporate Affairs Manager of GOIL, Rosemond Awotwi Frimpong stressed on the constant maintenance of the pumps to guarantee their longevity.
She said GOIL has endeavoured to give back to society and will continue to invest in development programs to benefit the people.
The District Coordinating Director of East Akim, Francis Asiedu, on behalf of the District Chief Executive, lauded GOIL for its development-oriented initiatives and appealed to the communities to take good care of the pumps.
He reminded the communities of their contribution to keep the pumps running.
The chief of Amanfrom, BarimahOfosuhenePeprah and the Amankrado of Panokrom, Nana BafourAgyeiAmoako, advised the Water and Sanitation Committees to take good care of the facilities to justify the investments made by GOIL.
