Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL) has been presented with ISO/79001:2008 certification for its best practices in the industry.
GOIL was presented with the certificate by Mrs. Gauri Bhagwat.
Mrs. Gauri Bhagwat, Director of Syscon Consulting Limited was the lead consultant to GOIL in their efforts to ISO Certification.
TÜV InterCert GmbH, one of the leading certification companies in the world, certified GOIL to ISO 9001.
The ISO Certificate was received by Mr. Patrick Akorli, Managing Director of GOIL at a colourful ceremony held at GOIL Executive Centre, Cantonment, Accra on Thursday, 15th March, 2015.
Presenting the certificate to GOIL, Mrs. Bhagwat who is with Syscon Consult, facilitators of ISO certification in Ghana, applauded GOIL for having maintained quality practices in every facet of the business, and revealed that organizations that establish and maintain internationally recognized management systems can be independently audited by certification bodies.
Commenting on the ISO Certificate, Mr. Patrick Akorli said, “The ISO program started in 2008 with a 2-weeks intensive awareness training for all staff from management to junior staff. Within the 4 year period, GOIL had to review our processes, procedures and forms following which there were internal audit for 2 months”.
The GOIL boss added that the final external audit was conducted before certification in December, 2014 and the certification was approved in January, 2015 of which a formal presentation is being done today.
He said that GOIL was now poised to venture onto the international platform to complete with multinational companies in the oil marketing industry. He also that GOIL continues to remain one of the forerunners in the downstream petroleum industry.
Mr. Akorli thanked Management and Staff and other stakeholders who in diverse ways played significant roles in making this ISO Certification to GOIL possible. He assured GOIL Customers and the general public that GOIL, the only Ghanaian-owned Oil Marketing Company, will continue to deliver quality products that meet customer satisfaction.
Present at the ceremony were Board Chairman-Prof. William Asumaning; Board Members of GOIL and other dignitaries in the oil industry.
