Enumerators of the 2010 Population and Housing Census, in Gomoa East District are being hampered by shortage of questionnaires.
An investigation conducted by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) revealed that the shortage of the questionnaires is widespread.
Mr. Patrick Adzovor, District Census Operation Officer who confirmed the story told the GNA at Gomoa Afransi that the 291 enumerators operating in the area were provided with only 25 questionnaires each.
He said the exercise is also encountering problems due to the refusal of residents of Ansaful and New Winneba, which falls within the Enumeration Area Map of the district, to co-operate with the enumerators, arguing that they belong to Effutu Municipality.
The Central Region Operations Officer, Mr. Francis Blight Mensah said in an interview that the enumerators are waiting for more questionnaires from Accra to continue the exercise.
He said even though the census is scheduled to end on October 10, he cannot confirm whether the exercise would be extended.
