The government has commended the media for its significant role in the fight against the coronavirus.
Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, in a statement to commemorate 2020 World Pres Freedom Day, noted that the media's “reporting and publishing of information on preventive etiquette is contributing positively in this fight” against the virus.
The statement said the Akufo-Addo administration has been working closely with the media and other stakeholders in disseminating information and educating the public, as part of the broader Covid-19 government response.
Government is, however, hoping that, through such an alliance, the pandemic will be defeated.
“We are hopeful that together, we will defeat this pandemic in the shortest possible time and continue with initiatives to make the media and broadcasting space increasingly productive.”
This year’s celebration is marked under the theme “Journalism without Fear or Favour.”
