Government is on course to receive the first tranche of this year’s budgetary support from the World Bank even though it is yet to meet the conditions earlier announced by the Country Director, Ishac Diwan.
Amongst them was the appointment of one more minister to take charge of the Public Sector and the strict monitoring of government expenditure.
Joy Business sources indicate even though the condition has not been met, $150 million of the first tranche of 300 million should be available to government shortly after the end of this month, tentatively before the end of next week.
The other half of the first tranche, Joy Business has learnt would also be available sometime in September.
A total of $1.2 billion has been promised the country by the World Bank over the next few years.
