The Chief Executive Officer of Bigiza Court Hotel in Tamale, Madam Gifty Mahama has urged the Government to make conscious efforts to help to develop tourist sites to attract more local and foreign patronage to the country.
Madam Mahama said there was the need for instance to tar the road leading to the biggest natural game reserve in the country, the Mole National Park in the Northern Region while facilities at the Paga Crocodile Pond in the Upper East Region should also be improved upon.
The Chief Executive Officer was reacting in an interview with the GNA Sports as to the reception accorded the South African national football team, the Bafana Bafana and their technical handlers, who were accommodated at the hotel
She also spoke about the facilities and the warm reception accorded the team and how she and her staff managed to cope with the influx of visitors to the hotel.
Madam Mahama told the GNA Sports that a lot of the South Africans took the opportunity to visit the Paga crocodile pond and enjoyed their stay there with many of them promising to come back with their families to visit the site.
She, however, said many of those who wanted to visit the Mole National Park at Damongo in the West Gonja District, could not make the trip because of the bad nature of the road.
Madam Mahama also stressed the need for hotels in the Metropolis to improve on their facilities by providing swimming pools, gymnasia, computers and Internet services to their clients.
She said the South Africans enjoyed their stay in her hotel adding: "They even took over the kitchen and prepared their own meals."
The Management of the Bafana Bafana also locked up the drinking bars to prevent the players from getting access to alcohol, she said.
