Government says the Tesano Police Housing Project is 65 percent complete.
This forms part of efforts to increase accommodation benefits for the police personnel in Ghana.
The 320 units housing project will be completed by the end of 2022 and will cost about $46 million.
The project which started in March 2019 according to officials is made up of 112 two-bedroom and 208 three-bedroom apartments.
Project Manager, Salim Bsoul said, the site will be furnished with some recreational facilities which will benefit the community at large.
“We have 20 residential buildings, and we have one community center building, kindergarten, playground and all that facilities in this project. Currently, we are working on 16 buildings at a time.”
Briefing the media, Minister for Works and Housing, Francis Asenso Boakye, who went on a tour of the site explained, government is working towards replicating this as part of its affordable housing project.
“Very soon, you will be hearing from me regarding a new government affordable housing program that will also contribute significantly towards reducing the housing deficits.”
Meanwhile, other redevelopment projects are ongoing at Roman ridge and Airport Residential Area. 8 unit and 60unit buildings are being constructed at these sites to benefit government workers.
The structures are being put up on the fallow lands within the already existing government housing unit.
The sector minister is hopeful these projects will reduce the housing deficit currently experienced by government workers.
