Nebraska State Governor Jim Pillen has commended the Ghana-Nebraska Agribusiness Growth and Trade Relations Chamber (GNEBCham) for leading efforts to enhance agricultural infrastructure, foster agribusiness trade, and promote knowledge sharing between the two regions.
He praised the chamber’s role in unlocking new opportunities that push the agribusiness sectors in both Ghana and Nebraska toward a prosperous future.
At a Meet-and-Greet session with a 30-member Ghanaian delegation that participated in the Husker Harvest Days event, Governor Pillen highlighted the chamber's success in facilitating trade and collaboration between Ghana and Nebraska.
He applauded GNEBCham for acting as a gateway for American businesses interested in Africa, especially Ghana, while helping Ghanaian companies navigate Nebraska's agricultural market.
“I’m impressed by the growing trade linkages between our regions, and we’re open to working with you to identify gaps and foster mutual business growth,” Pillen stated.
He emphasised Nebraska's bio-economy and sustainable practices as game-changers for Ghana’s agriculture, encouraging Ghana to tap into Nebraska’s seven generations of agricultural innovation.
A symbolic highlight of the event was Governor Pillen’s presentation of the Governor’s Coin to the Ghanaian delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, marking the growing bond between the two regions.
Hon. Ampratwum-Sarpong expressed gratitude to Governor Pillen for his support in strengthening GNEBCham’s vision and commended Nebraska’s openness to collaboration, which he said would advance trade relations and mutual agribusiness growth.
The Ghanaian delegation, consisting of GNEBCham members, visited Nebraska for a five-day business trip that included participation in Husker Harvest Days and matched meetings with key Nebraskan agricultural companies, including Bayer, Nebraska Star Beef, and Chief Industries, as well as universities specializing in agriculture.
The goal was to create strategic links that ensure measurable business outcomes by leveraging Nebraska’s advanced bio-economy and innovative agricultural practices.
GNEBCham, established in 2023, serves as a non-profit organization aimed at fostering agribusiness trade relations and promoting sustainable growth by connecting businesses in Ghana and Nebraska.
Through exchange programs, trade fairs, and capacity-building activities, the chamber works to strengthen the agricultural sectors of both regions and create lasting business partnerships.
