Cybersecurity and Information Technology (IT) expert, Adomako Samuel Kwame, has praised Communications Minister Samuel Nartey George for efforts to curb fraudulent activities in Ghana.
He emphasised that cybersecurity should be a standalone entity in Ghana's digital governance framework.
"It's clear that scam cases have decreased, and I would like to acknowledge the Minister's efforts. The measures put in place are making a difference. His timely actions are truly commendable, and we're noticing the impact," he said.
He welcomed the recent arrest of scam suspects by security agencies, calling it a step in the right direction.
He also lauded the collaboration between security agencies and the Minister, saying it's crucial for protecting Ghanaians from cyberbullying.
"This shows we are on the right track, and I am pleased with the teamwork between the security agencies and the Minister to eradicate this scamming menace."
He alleged "there are some public figures who are behind these criminals, and it's high time they are brought to book."
Mr. Adomako warned Ghanaians to be vigilant, as fraudsters are developing new scam tactics in 2026.
He urged corporate organisations and individuals to invest in robust cyber security sysÂtems, in order to safeguard their operations from cyber-attacks and threats.
"Ghanaians should open their eyes very well, because these guys are coming with new methods to scam them," he cautioned.
He also called on Ghana's telecommunications companies to work with the Minister, security agencies, and stakeholders to develop methods to tackle scams .
"Telcos should collaborate with us to fight this menace," he said.
