With barely a month for the completion of the new Presidential Complex, the French Embassy and the GBC Club house have been earmarked for relocation.
Security reasons have been cited for the relocation of the two facilities.
However, TV3 Network Limited, a private media organization is exempted, contrary to media reports.
In an interview with Joy News on Tuesday, Deputy Minister of Information, Frank Agyekum, said it was not true that TV3 would be affected. He however hinted that the French Embassy and other structures close to the complex would be relocated.
Meanwhile, officials at the French Embassy have also confirmed notification from government to relocate the Embassy, but say they are still in talks with government.
Deputy Head of Mission, Mrs Decourt in an interview with a Joy reporter, Sammy Darko, said the notification was made some few months ago but stopped short of when the relocation will take place.
In a real display of diplomacy, Mrs Decourt proved evasive when asked whether the Embassy was ready to relocate. “This is something which is being discussed with government so it is going through diplomatic relations.” She said.
When completed in August this year, the Presidential Complex will become the new seat of government for the new president to be elected in the upcoming general election in December.
The $50 million project which was supposed to have been completed in June, has delayed due to financial and architectural challenges.
