Government has directed the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO), the Attorney General’s (AG) Department and the Police Criminal and Investigative Department to assume full responsibility and take action against all persons and organizations cited in the inter-ministerial report on the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA).
This directive, according to the Ghanaian Times newspaper, was contained in a government action paper on the report, the paper says it has chanced upon.
The investigative report submitted to President John Mahama weeks ago indicted six top GYEEDA officials among others, for corruption and fraud and recommended their arrest and prosecution.
After resisting pressure to act swiftly on the matter, the president has tasked the law enforcement agencies also ensure they retrieve all monies due the state.
Government, the report says, decided to refer the matter to the law enforcement agencies because the committee was unable to interrogate some of the individuals mentioned in the GYEEDA report.
