Government has announced that it will hold daily press briefings at the Flag Staff house, Accra.
A statement signed by a Deputy Minister for Information and Media Relations Felix Kwakye Ofosu said the move forms part of efforts to deepen government-public engagement.
The statement indicated that the daily press briefings will be held at the Flagstaff House, Accra starting from Thursday, 16th May, 2013 at 11:00 AM and reflects government’s commitment to fulfil the fourth pillar of the NDC 2012 manifesto which promised transparent and accountable governance.
Mr. Kwakye Ofosu explained that the daily press briefing which will be addressed by the Minister for Information and Media Relations will afford Ghanaians an opportunity to have insight into government activities, policies and programs.
He added that it will also create a platform where government will state its position on critical emerging National issues and offer clarifications on these issues where necessary.
In conclusion the statement expressed Government’s belief that various accredited media organizations will participate fully in these briefings as part of their contribution to enhance transparency and accountability in government.
