Government has resolved to take steps to discontinue the process for the winding up of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Also,  government and FIFA have resolved to work closely to eradicate corruption, malfeasance and other associated criminal conduct from the administration of football in Ghana. 

President Akufo-Addo and the Federation have committed to work together to offer leadership in reforming football administration in Ghana and in Africa. 

The parties again resolved to "establish a joint task force to create proper disciplinary, governance and auditing mechanisms as well as ensure that persons who are found culpable are punished in accordance with Ghanaian domestic laws and FIFA statutes."

These are part of the outcome of government's meeting with FIFA Thursday. 

Government through the sports ministry responded to FIFA’s threat of a ban if it did not back out of the processes it has initiated to liquidate the Ghana Football Association.

The world football governing body released a statement asking the government to withdraw their petition to liquidate the Ghana Football Association by Monday, August 27 or face a ban from all football-related activities.

FIFA said government's stance is “undue influence in the affairs of the GFA in contravention of Article 19 of its rules and regulations”.

On Thursday a government delegation led by the Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah and comprising of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Samuel A. Jinapor; Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah; Deputy-Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame and the head of the FIFA/CAF liaison team, Dr. Kofi Amoah, met with a delegation of FIFA officials led by its President, Mr Gianni Infantino.

Also in the meeting was FIFA Secretary General, Madam Fatma Samoura and other representatives of the FIFA administration.

The meeting seems to have produced positive results with the two parties resolving to collaborate to advance their respective interests. 

FIFA upon consultation with government and CAF shall establish a normalization committee to replace the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association.

In consultation with government and CAF, FIFA shall appoint persons with integrity and competence to constitute the membership of the normalization committee;

Satisfied with the above measures, government has promised to take steps to discontinue the process for the winding up of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
