New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Efutu constituency, Alexander Afenyo-Markins says the growing penchant by government to blame the NPP for its incompetence is worrying. He said the government has no practical solutions to the socio-economic crisis facing the country.According to him, the Mahama-led adminstration lacks the expertise to end the perennial gas shortages, water rationing and the erratic power supply and thus uses the NPP as a scape goat. The Efutu MP made the assertion on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday when commenting on the power crisis in the country.Government is under intense pressure from its critics who claim it has not done enough to fix the ongoing electricity and water crisis. The current situation has affected all aspect of national life with many businesses collapsing as a result of the erratic power supply.Even though President John Mahama has assured an end to the crisis, some government officials blame the erstwhile Kufuor administration of not putting up enough structures to avert the current situation. But Alexander Afenyo-Markins on Ekosii Sen said he is not surprised about government’s blame game because "the only way to survive the anger of Ghanaians is to blame the NPP for its incompetence".He said instead of the Better Ghana the Mahama-led administration promised Ghanaians it has delivered a Bitter Ghana thus far.The Efutu MP stated that government has turned a deaf ear to the plight of Ghanaians who are made to endure 24 hours power outages amidst water rationing and gas shortages.Mr. Afenyo-Markins added all Ghanaians are demanding from government is to see results and not what the NPP should have done in the past.“Mr. President the poems are too much; quit the blame game and provide answers to Ghanaians” he said.In a rebuttal, the former MP for Adenta constituency, Kojo Adu-Asare pooh poohed the Efutu MP’s claim, describing it as unfortunate.According to him, government has not blamed the NPP for anything but only pointed out the things it failed to do when power which he says has landed the country in a crisis.Adu-Asare said President Mahama does not need the NPP to remind him that he has a responsibility to ensure Ghanaians are prosperous. He urged the NPP to channel its energy in helping government deliver a Better Ghana for the future generation.
