Public Interest Advocate, Rodaline Imoru Ayarna, has defended the government’s decision to terminate the employment of individuals hired after the December 7 elections.
According to her, the development is justifiable given Ghana’s economic situation and governance history.
Speaking on Newsfile, she argued that such last-minute recruitments by an outgoing government raise serious concerns, particularly when the administration had eight years to create jobs but failed to do so.
"As a Ghanaian, I would say that those employed are Ghanaians, but looking at the situation and the historical pattern of government transitions, I don’t think it’s unjustifiable. Why would a government that had eight years to act suddenly flood agencies with new hires just before leaving office?" she questioned on Saturday, February 22, 2025.

Mrs Ayarna further noted that some of the appointments were not done through due process, citing concerns raised by government spokespersons about irregularities in the hiring process.
"From what I heard from government spokesperson, some of the hires did not even submit application letters, some didn’t go through the right procedures, and others had backdated employment records. These are all acts of criminality, and you cannot defend that," she stated.
Acknowledging the frustration of affected employees, she urged them to reapply through the proper channels, rather than insisting on holding positions that might not have been rightfully secured.
